The Tarnations are a raw fun old school rock & roll band that re-unites two Chicago original DIY indies in Gregg Yde & Dave Ashdown. The band features 'California Man' Ron Laskin (Jimmy Burns) on bass & backing vocals and North Carolina jangle-pop scene replant John Holoman (Green) on the drums. Yde & Ashdown first played together in 1991 on THE NURV's debut CD 'Sinners & Social Graces' produced by Brad Wood (Liz Phair). In the 30 years since their paths split, the two have made records with such renown producers as Doug McBride (Smashing Pumpkins), Mitch Easter (R.E.M.), Rick G. Nelson (Afghan Wigs), Darrell Thorp (Beck) & Tommy Stinson (The Replacements) with whom 'dASHDOWN' toured in 2019. Former bands include Chicago's Rollover, Braam, Boom Hank, Billhouse, Waiting for Henry from New York, and Yde's New Orleans-based Black Laurel.. Live The Tarnations play a mix of earthy originals and covers by their favorites like the Stones, Clapton, The Who, and even the Dead ...all depends on the night!
